Sometimes you want to get more out of your Iphone but are unsure how to do it. There's plenty of magazines devoted to these 'hacks' but you have to explore page after page of useless information like 'how to triple click' or 'how to subscribe to your calender' these are incredibly boring and ultimately pretty useless. What you need is a quick round up, a top five, of the best hacks and tips for your Iphone that are both practical and interesting. As luck would have it, you're reading one right now. 

1. How to prolong your battery life as long as possible for your iPhone 4s.

There's four big things you can do that can considerably lengthen the battery life of an Iphone. the first is obvious. Tap the wake/sleep button, this locks the Iphone and saves the power automatically. Now change the settings so that it reduces the Auto-lock timer to One minute.  Another thing you can do is turn off enable 3G, this will slow down your internet browsing but won't slow down its other core uses such as playing music and making calls. Thirdly, temporarily disable Location Services. Many apps use this to find areas of interest near you such as train stations or restaurants. Finally, while listening to music turning off the EQ adjustments this makes the songs a lot less demanding but does does reduce the quality some what. Just remember to turn it back on when you have adequate battery life.

2. Taking a screengrab on your iPhone 4s

This is probably the most useful  and simple tip. The screengrab is makes saving information quick, efficient and accurate.  After laboriously negotiating safari for your information you want to quickly gather the information. Take a screengrab. To do this you click both the Wake/Sleep button on the top and the Home button at the same time to save the screen as an image. The Iphone will make a camera click and a saved image of your screen will now be saved in your image folder. You can now access that whenever you like.

3. Avoiding expensive bills after traveling abroad

When you travel abroad your Iphone will automatically try to connect to a different network provider. This is good. It might also try to grab new data which will result in a much larger bill. This is bad. To stop this from happening you'll want to go into settings,  pick general, then Network and turn off Data roaming. This will stop a large bill from coming to you at the end of the month, but will also not affect any calls or texts you make will abroad.

4. Larger font on your iPhone 4s

sometimes you don't have your reading glasses with you. Normally you'd have to squint continuously  at the screen until you could either find your glasses or give up. With the Iphone you don't have to simply go into the General settings and go into Accessibility.  Simply select the large text option to make the words in most applications larger. Or alternatively, if you have eagle eyes, change the font to small so that you can view larger amounts of information in a smaller space.

5. Dealing with freezing

'Have you tried turning it on and off again' Whenever your Iphone won't unfreeze just do this really simple trick. Don't phone customer support, don't whine to your loved ones, don't smash it in a drunken haze. Just. Do. This. Hold down the wake/sleep button and slide to turn off. Leave it for a few minutes and turn it back on. This should fix it. Alternatively, hold down the wake/sleep button and the home button for 10 seconds until it turns off. Nine times out of ten this should fix things. If that doesn't work you have my permission to whine and moan as much you like.
